July 2007
Hello I'm Jennifer,
I am an artist, working in various mediums including painting, water colour, acrylic and oils traditional printmaking, woodcuts, linocuts, metal plate and solar plate etching colagraphs Ceramic sculpture and pottery .
My main interest is landscape in and around Outback Australia, but figurative work also shows its head now and then, appearing in sculpture or some other medium. As a potter I really get down to earth and have been successfully working with clay from Corrimal on the South Coast and Lightning Ridge, in the central north west of N.S.W. To use it clay must first be reclaimed and aged for a minimum of 3 months to gain plasticity, the longer the better. After 3 years of testing the nature of the clay, I use it mostly to handbuild and as a glazing material.
A selection of my paintings and prints have been exhibited within Australia and internationally. My current, forthcoming and previous exhibitions are all available by following the links from the main menu of my site.
I am often on field trips - sketching and collecting material for future paintings and prints and clay to reclaim. Never a dull moment at a camp with no mains power, tank water and a long drop, lots of lizards, frogs, birds, kangaroos and plenty of landscape to inspire.
Cheers,
Jennifer
